Permission secured for new Coleraine town centre retail development

Gravis Planning has secured planning permission for a significant new town centre retail development in Coleraine.

The construction of the retail development is being brought forward by Magell Limited at the former Dunnes’ site, between Queen Street and the Mall.

The development includes two new retail units, coffee/retail, offices, car parking, and service yard. The development also includes new access route to parking area to back of Queen Street, landscaping, two new pedestrian crossing points and general site works.

it will help regenerate the town centre, support business and economic growth whilst enhancing shoppers’ experience in what has been a difficult time for the retail industry.

This approval represents an investment of up to £6million creating 30 full and part time jobs in the area and 50 construction jobs which is a well needed boost to our local economy as we move to a post Covid-19 recovery period. The local council will also benefit from additional rates revenue of around £200,000 a year.

Planning approval was granted at a virtual hearing of the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council monthly Planning Committee meeting in October 2020.
