Belfast indoor adventure golf course and gym to create 50 jobs at Cityside

More than 50 new jobs are being created with the opening of two new businesses at a Belfast shopping centre - including a huge new indoor miniature golf centre.

Cityside Retail and Leisure Park in north Belfast is due to play host to a new branch of GymCo and Northern Ireland's first Lost City Golf.

It's understood GymCo will create around 40 new jobs when it opens its doors next month.

GymCo opened its first facility within the Devenish complex at Finaghy Road more than two years ago.

The gym will offer a spa facility, including a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. It will also include a fitness studio, weights, cardio and stretching areas.

And Lost City Golf has plans to spend £1m refurbishing and fitting out the space on the first floor to create the first indoor adventure golf course in Northern Ireland.

The company already has one of its Lost City Golf outlets in Nottingham, which boasts two separate courses.

The Inca-themed mini golf centre, which caters for families and adults, will feature moving walls, statues and musical landscaping.

The centre is due to open its doors at the start of 2017. It's understood around a dozen jobs will be created.

Joint letting agents Savills and DTZ McCombe Pierce secured deals with GymCo and Lost City Adventure Golf, taking a combined 27,500 sq ft of space at the recently refurbished retail park.

Colleen Fox of Savills Retail said the centre is expecting a boost in trade when the new Ulster University campus opens its doors in 2018.

"We are delighted to welcome Lost City Golf to Cityside and be the first to offer the indoor adventure golf experience," she said.

"It is a great addition to the already strong tenant mix within the scheme. Also, with the opening of GymCo in the coming weeks, we will be sure to see a positive knock-on effect to other retailers in the scheme, with footfall expected to increase significantly due to the exciting new leisure offerings.

"Furthermore, with the new University of Ulster campus planning to open in 2018, there will be 15,000 students relocating within a five-minute walk to Cityside, and we will continue to see Cityside develop."
