Social Housing at St Patrick's Barracks

The proposal is for a residential development at part of the former St Patrick’s Barracks site in Ballymena. The plans from Radius Housing were to create a new social and affordable housing development, consisting of 136 no. dwellings along with associated road infrastructure, landscaping and children’s play park.

Radius Housing were one of a number of stakeholders working in partnership to deliver the ambitious regeneration masterplan which the Department for Communities obtained outline planning permission for in March 2019. The masterplan aims to turn the former army barracks to a flagship, shared neighbourhood, mixed use, housing-led regeneration scheme.

OUR INVOLVEMENT

Gravis Planning provide planning support for Radius Housing on numerous projects throughout Northern Ireland. Gravis worked with the project team including architects, Hall Black Douglas on the St Patrick’s Barracks residential development proposal from the beginning of the project’s design to approval at local council.

Gravis Planning held an online and remote public consultation process for the application. We also prepared the planning application and ensured its progress through the planning system providing advice on a range of planning related issues.
