The relocation of up to 6 post primary schools in Omagh on to one purpose built campus site with shared facilities

Issues Encountered

  • The scale of the project and potential complexity of shared facilities may raise issues regarding provision on site.
  • The sharing of facilities by schools from both traditions may raise concerns amongst the Omagh community.
  • As the Lisanelly site is a former Ministry of Defence site, there is the potential for major environmental issues on site.

Our Involvement

Acting as planning advisors to Bovis Lend Lease and AHMM Masterplanning team, we provided input into the overall masterplan for the site, co-ordinating environmental sub-consultants to prepare the required Environmental Statement for the project and managing the planning application process including pre-application discussions with Planning Service.

We also had a significant role in promoting the project to the Omagh community, including but not limited to pupils, parents, teachers, local representatives and the business community to ensure community confidence in the project and to encourage public feedback and input that can be incorporated into the final design.
