Northern Ireland Hopsice proposed to retain and redevelop Somerton House and demolish the adjoining ʻadd-onʼ buildings to make way for a purpose built state of the art facility providing patients with the best possible care, and staff with much improved working conditions.
We were commissioned in September 2009 to assist Northern Ireland Hospice in achieving planning permission for new state-of-the-art Palliative Care Facilities at Somerton Road, North Belfast.
We also carried out public and political consultation to highlight the social benefits which would accrue from a purpose built facility and to ensure that any concerns raised by local residents are addressed by the project design team in so far as is possible.
