Contemporary apartment development on an aertial route into Belfast with commercial units at ground floor level.

Issues Encountered

The modern design encountered initial resistance from Planning Service and a number oflocal residents. The scale of the building and lower provision of amenity space within thescheme also caused concern.

Our Involvement

We undertook intensive research to demonstrate the appropriateness of the scale of the building and how the proposal comiled with the emerging area plan. Slight design changes to the proposal and highlighting its close siting to Ormeau Park resulted in the Department accepting these arguments and granting planning permission in June 2008
