Redevelopment of and extension to a traditional mill building in north Belfast to provide commercial, office and residential units.
Located in a sensitive location at a political interface area, the redevelopment of the historic building was viewed as being a catalyst project for regeneration in the area that could benefit and be used by both sides of the community.
We provided design advice and planning input for the project and managed the planning application through to a decision. A number of consulations were held with the PSNI Secured by Design advisers to ensure that security features were incorporated into the design. Consultations were also undertaken with local political representatives and resident groups to communicate the benefits of the scheme for each side of the community, resulting in minimal objections despite the sensitive nature and location of the site.
