Local and political opposition to the proposal.
Public Inquiry called to determine planning application
The proposal to extend the George Best Belfast City Airport was met with substantial public and political resistance due to its close proximity to densely populated residential areas of South and East Belfast.
We carried out a full Pre-Application Discussion (PAD) process with the Department and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
A detailed public and political consultation campaign was carried out to make the general public aware of the wider social and economic benefits of the project.
In 2012 the airport withdrew the planning application.
