Northern Ireland Water

Provision of planning advice on selected Northern Ireland owned sites throughout Northern Ireland.

Issues Encountered

  • Contamination issues related to previous land use
  • Roads issues – access, visibility etc.
  • Planning policy constraints
  • Landscape and visual impacts

Our Involvement

We were appointed by Northern Ireland Water in 2007/08 to provide assistance and guidance in relation to planning issues which could arise in relation to any interest in disused NIW land and in particular in relation to the disposal of NIW land including the seeking of outline planning permission.

We worked on over 25 NI Water sites across the province, producing site planning reports on their redevelopment potential to achieving outline planning permissions for the various proposed uses.

Subsequently, NI Water commissioned us to submit planning applications with accompanying Concept Statements for a number of their sites including sites in Dungannon, Limavady, Ballycastle, Omagh and Carrickfergus.
