Cairnshill Residential Development

The proposal was for full planning permission for a significant residential development consisting of 219 houses to complete the earlier developments of Brooke Hall and Bracken Hill as originally planned. The application comprised 90, 3 and 4 bedroom semi-detached houses and 129, 3 and 4 bedroom detached houses, with associated garages, landscaped open space and playparks.

This represents an investment of £24 million sustaining at least 200 construction jobs. There will also be an increased rates intake for council of over £300k per annum.

Our Involvement

We provided planning advisory services prior to consideration of the application by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Planning Committee and following approval with regard to negotiations around developer contributions.

As the application was submitted prior to the statutory requirement for Pre-Application Community Consultation, our public affairs team undertook an extensive round of engagement with local elected representatives and community groups to explain the substantial economic and community benefits associated with the proposed development. This work resulted in effectively addressing concerns about aspects of the scheme and resulted in widespread support and a unanimous approval by the Planning Committee.
