Social Housing proposal for 64 No. residential units including provision for Traveller accommodation

Issues Encountered

• Local concern regarding provision of Traveller’s accommodation and access arrangements.

• Potential for planning prematurity issues to arise due to current objections to the greenfield lands in the draft area plan.

Our Involvement

We were commissioned to prepare an outline planning application for a social housing development scheme on a greenfield site in Bessbrook. This included providing design and planning advice to the client and architect, co-ordinating supporting environmental information and preparing and managing the planning application.

We also prepared briefing material and organised a public information evening to inform the local community about the proposal, to gauge public opinion and obtain feedback. This information was then compiled and presented the Clanmil Board for consideration.
