Armstrong Medical Expansion

The Covid-19 pandemic saw a huge increase in the demand for respiratory medical products needed to treat patients. This proposal was for the expansion of the existing medical manufacturing facility at Wattstown Business Park, Newbridge Road, Coleraine, to provide additional manufacturing and storage floorspace, ancillary offices, staff parking and service yards. 

This expansion allows Armstrong Medical to meet the current and urgent demand for their products and will also allow them to undertake further product development in this highly specialised area in which they are market leaders.

Gravis Planning worked with the project team in the pre-application process to manage the consultation period and prepare a planning application which was submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in November 2021. The Pre-Application Community Consultation (PACC) process included hosting an online webpage, a dedicated project email address and a voicemail service to monitor and respond to feedback coming through on the proposals. Following the consultation period, we produced a PACC Report that provided an overview of the consultation period and the feedback received during it. Due to the close management of the application by our planning team, an approval for this major development was secured inside 6 months.
