Our Involvement
The purpose of this redevelopment was to ensure that the space in and around Colin better met the needs of local residents in terms of connectivity, open space and service provision. This project also served the dual purpose of encouraging investment into the area.
At the time of drafting of this masterplan, Colin was one of the most socially deprived areas in Northern Ireland. When the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure Rankings were published in 2010, six of the seven Super Output Areas (SOAs) belonging to Colin were ranked in the most deprived 10 percent in Northern Ireland.
However, when the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure Rankings were published again in 2017, following the publication of the Masterplan and subsequent redevelopment of the area, the SOAs in Colin improved by an average of fifteen places in these rankings.
Gravis Planning drafted the Colin Village Masterplan to meet the needs of the local community and conducted extensive community consultation on the proposals, before guiding it through the planning process to approval.
