Our Involvement
The proposed building extends and enhances the Riddel Hall campus. The project provides teaching space and ancillary research, support, and social accommodation. It will also involve renovation work to the listed Riddel Hall building due to the relocation of current facilities to the new proposed space.
The expansion of the school ensures that it is fit to serve the changing educational needs of a rapidly growing postgraduate community, who will prove invaluable to the progress of the Northern Ireland economy.
Gravis Planning worked alongside Todd Architects to prepare a planning application in advance of submission to Belfast City Council. This included providing planning advice and a public community consultation event in Riddel Hall to showcase the proposal. The planning application was submitted in October 2019 and subsequently permission was granted in June 2020. It opened to students and staff in September 2023.
