Wildstone Digital Smart Hubs - Northern Ireland

Wildstone partnered with Euro Payphone to propose a network of telecommunications Smart Hubs, including the upgrading of existing Euro Payphone kiosks as well as introducing new state-of-the-art smart hubs with double-sided advertising displays to new sites throughout Belfast City Centre.

The hubs incorporate a variety of features such as free telephone calls, WiFi, touchscreens, public messaging and a provision for a public access defibrillator. The hubs will also provide public advertising with a proportion of screen time given to the City free of charge to promote the city and local services.

Gravis Planning provided planning and public affairs support to Wildstone. 

We provided planning advice and support throughout the planning process for each of the Smart Hub kiosks, monitoring each application’s progress and assessing the individual characteristics of each hub. In some cases, this involved resolving issues around the perceived impact on traffic as well as perceived impact on conservation.

We also devised a strategic communications campaign to gain support for the project from key elected representatives, ensuring that the proposal supports Belfast City Council’s Strategic Vision for Smart Cities.
