Gravis Planning has been appointed as planning consultants for Green Frog Power as it expands its commercial operations into both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We are delighted to have established this partnership with what is already one of the UK’s leading energy developers.
Our work together is already off to a positive start, having recently secured a landmark planning approval for Green Frog in Northern Ireland.
Originally dealing in power plants from mobilisation to commissioning – with the group having built over half a gigawatt of flexible generation in the UK – Green Frog has diversified in the last 3 years to develop battery energy storage systems (BESS) and Grid Stability projects. Its new projects, for example, include several hundred MW of (BESS) projects along with being successful in the recent National Grid Pathfinder Phase 3 procurement process to provide Grid Stability via Synchronous Capacitors, also known as Synchronous Condensers, which are becoming a key part of the future electricity networks as large base load thermal generation is removed from the grid and replaced with intermittent renewable energy such as wind and solar.
We are proud to be part of Green Frog’s entry into the Irish markets, bringing with it a wealth of experience, expertise and exciting new technologies which will power our transition to Net Zero carbon emissions and the fight against global warming and climate change. We look forward to deploying our extensive knowledge of planning policy and consenting regimes to achieve timely approvals for Green Frog’s projects.
