Gravis Planning expands consultancy services into Great Britain with offices in London and Edinburgh

22 March 2023

Due to significant new client wins and continued growth across the UK and Ireland, Gravis Planning has announced the opening of new offices in both London and Edinburgh. This represents a major expansion by the company and marks the latest phase in an ambitious strategy for growth, following its move into the Republic of Ireland with the opening of an office in Dublin in 2018.

Commenting on the expansion announcement Richard Bowman, Group MD of planning consultancy, said,

‘’We are very pleased to announce this major expansion through the opening of new offices at Holborn in London and Haymarket in Edinburgh. This will allow us to meet the needs of our existing clients in Great Britain as well as providing us with a platform for future growth.

“Our business has performed very well in recent years. There is strong demand for our integrated planning and strategic communications consultancy services, particularly in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure and housing.’’

Group Managing Director of the firm’s strategic communications division, David Kerr, says that the need for a professional approach to communicating with key stakeholders, particularly on high-profile and large projects, is greater than ever. He explains,

’We are seeing unprecedented levels of scrutiny and requirement for attention to detail, from communities, elected representatives and wider stakeholders, when they examine planning and environmental impact assessment submissions for developments in their local areas.

“Our clients understand the value and importance of strategic communications services in helping to deliver high quality public engagement. We have always believed this leads to better planning outcomes for our clients and communities. As we strive to meet decarbonisation targets in the UK and Ireland, we are also finding that support and attitudes towards renewable energy and sustainable forms of development are increasingly positive”, he said.

Gravis Planning’s Director of planning consultancy in their Dublin office, Ed Barrett, says that despite inflationary pressures within the Irish and UK economies, demand remains strong for planning consultancy advice – especially for energy, infrastructure and residential development. He added:

“Our levels of experience and expertise have helped us to secure major contracts in recent years. We are also very fortunate to have a large number of consultants in our team with experience of working in both the Irish and UK planning systems. This gives our clients confidence that we can service their needs in multiple investment locations.’’
