On behalf of Technological University Dublin, we are pleased to have secured planning permission for new cycle shelters at its Blanchardstown and Tallaght campuses, respectively.
At both the Blanchardstown and the Tallaght campus, the consented development includes a single-storey structure providing an additional 75 No. cycle spaces. In turn, these include 68 No. standard cycle spaces, 5 No. EV cycle spaces and 2 No. cargo bike spaces. This amounts to a total of 150 new cycle spaces.
The consented development is in keeping with the objectives of local, regional and national planning policy, including the National Planning Framework (NPF) 2040, which seeks to enable a transition to more sustainable modes of travel including walking, cycling and public transport within urban areas.
We are delighted to have supported the delivery of these structures, which facilitate eco-friendly active travel across, between and beyond TUD’s campuses. Cycling and cycle infrastructure contribute to climate action, reduce congestion and lead to better health outcomes. We commend TUD for promoting this mode of transport amongst its students and staff by continuing to add to the already substantial cycling infrastructure throughout its estate.
