We are pleased to receive planning approval from Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council for 49 new apartments on the site of the Thunderdome café in Glengormley on behalf of K&M Restaurants Ltd. The proposal also includes car parking, access, open space and associated general site works.
As a location in the heart of Glengormley, it offers close proximity and easy access to public transport facilities, local shops, services, schools, open space, employment opportunities etc. It would also provide an opportunity for a refreshing new development on a site that is currently dominated by parking to the front thereby improving frontage onto the main Antrim Road.
As a proposal on a previously developed, brownfield site, it further presents as a good form of sustainable development and regeneration, in step with the trend and demand for smaller housing units, especially on infill sites within the urban area which helps to stimulate urban renewal and meet local housing need.
We’re always proud to be part of proposals which are aimed at providing much needed housing, building on the vibrancy of local communities and stimulating growth for local businesses. It is gratifying to see proposed developments approved which have the potential to assist regeneration in a sustainable manner while providing meaningful benefits to citizens.
