Replacement of former town hall with 9 No. unit apartment development.
• Design considerations as site within designated conservation area
• Planning Service objection to initial proposed height of new building
We were brought on board to provide planning and public consultation advice for the demolition of the former town hall and submit a planning application for 9 no. apartments.
Due to the location and prominence of the site within a conservation area, the Department was reluctant to accept original proposals for a replicated neo Georgian Manor.
We led a site meeting to establish a more favorable proposal and agree a timescale for the Department to reach a decision. This was complimented with a series of meetings with local Councillors and residents to ensure support was obtained.
To this end a complete redesign was submitted, proposing a development similar in scale and design to the existing buildings in the Square and planning approval was obtained.
