This application sought full planning permission for a mixed use development comprising 8 no. light industrial units with a total floor area of approximately 2500sqm (Use Class B2) and a four pump/eight bay petrol filling station and associated shop with a floor area of approximately 560sqm (Sui Generis) and creation of new vehicular access point onto Mallusk Drive.
These former Invest NI lands are adjacent to the residential areas of Alderley Place and Aylesbury Avenue and in close proximity to the established Mallusk Enterprise Park and existing industrial uses.
The development of these vacant lands will create 80 new jobs with the industrial units offering a natural stepping stone for businesses which have outgrown the Enterprise Park and wish to expand but remain within this specific locality.
The proposed petrol filling station and its associated shop will benefit local residents, passing commuters and existing employees of surrounding businesses by providing alternative choice in terms of refuelling and the purchase of convenience goods.
We obtained approval of this major application in a timely manner through the preparation of all supporting information and documents and management of specialist transport, drainage and noise assessments.
A thorough Pre-Application Community Consultation process was taken forward prior to submission including a well-attended public event which was held in the local community hall. This process was utilised to explain the benefits of the proposals to the local community resulting in minimal objections.
