We were engaged by Fraser Houses to carry out community consultation to identify the key issues, concerns and needs of residents in 800+ unit residential development in Newtownabbey.
Information was gathered through a range of surveys, public meetings and contact with local representatives. The various consultation sessions raised the common concerns of anti-social behaviour, lack of community cohesion and activities for residents. To this end, we oversaw the process of establishing a Community Association, developing a Community Plan, employing a Community Development Officer and securing funding sourced from various governmental and non-governmental bodies.Since the inception of the Community Association in January 2008, a range of regular activities and events have been organised for all age groups of the community with the aim of encouraging social cohesion, civic pride and reducing levels of anti-social behaviour. The Community Association has also begun to generate income and act as an interface between residents and local representatives.
